A Few Thoughts on Healing

The path to healing is always directly through the pain. I cannot avoid or ignore pain and walk out the door healed. Why? Because healing at the core requires insight, understanding and most importantly forgiveness. I cannot arrive at forgiveness miraculously. I have to study my pain and allow my pain to become my teacher. I have to feel every emotion and evaluate why it is there - what is it telling me? This is the ultimate form of self love - allowing and supporting myself in feeling my feelings. I knock on the door of my emotion and ask it what it is trying to say to me. Pain is not my enemy; quite the contrary. The magic of my emotions is that my physical body is communicating to me on a spiritual and intuitive level. When I’m able to understand an emotion, I can understand why I acted, or reacted a certain way and can accept, take ownership and forgive myself and those who hurt me. Then I can make a plan as to how I will act differently when I experience that emotion again. Que healthy boundaries and que wisdom. Ignoring pain never yields the fruit of the spirit, or the fruit I really want for that matter. It only ever yields a trauma response from my unhealed flesh which will only compound over time. Just like a rose bush, impassable because of its protective and sharp thorns.
Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding (or insight).
insight [defined]: the capacity to gain an accurate and deep intuitive understanding of a person or thing
understanding [defined]: sympathetic awareness
