Perhaps...

It is possible to hear the voice of the Divine.

The first step is to be quiet long enough for Him to speak.

Perhaps He doesn’t speak right away when I get quiet because He knows I am not ready to listen.

My body must become ready to absorb the voice. My heart must become vulnerable too and my hands must be open to whatever answer the voice may bring.

Listening is different than hearing. Hearing requires little effort. Even a child can repeat what words you spoke when you ask “did you hear what I said?” Listening, however, requires a great bit of effort. It requires action. If I am not ready to act, then I am not ready to listen.

Perhaps I’m waiting for Him while He's waiting for me.
